Who may say what

For packaged food the operator under whose name or business name the food is sold answers for the information, or the importer where that operator is not registered in Serbia (Rulebook art. 6), and the label must name that operator registered in the Republic of Serbia with its address/seat (art. 9 item 8); cosmetics need a responsible person established in Serbia, and for imports each importer is the responsible person (Law art. 64).

Food sold in Serbia must be declared in the Serbian language (multilingual labels allowed), legibly and indelibly (Rulebook art. 5), with name, ingredients, net quantity, shelf life, storage conditions and country of origin; cosmetics are declared under the Law on General Use Products and its rulebook on cosmetic products.

Nutrition and health claims fall under a separate Ministry of Health rulebook (Правилник о прехрамбеним и здравственим изјавама које се наводе на декларацији хране) whose official page could not be fetched; the brand owner named under art. 6 answers for claims on its label.
